Client’s details: Female, 65 years old.
Diagnosis: Collagenous colitis for over 40 years
Collagenous colitis is an inflammatory bowel disease causing watery intermittent diarrhoea with greater than 10 bowel movements per day.
Symptoms:
Triggered at 21 years old by a life threatening typhoid infection, bouts of diarrhoea that became worse and worse with age. Constant diarrhoea, inability to handle any type of roughage in diet, a hopeless state. Loss of weight to 6 stone 3lb, height 5ft 5”. Lots of gross stomach pain and some wind. Terrible food intolerances especially to wheat and rye. Started taking the medication Ammodian, but became resistant to it, so she was prescribed codeine phosphate.
After treatment:
Can eat everything, normal weight returned 7stone 9lbs.
